Are you ready to get inside your dog's mind???We are here to help our human students work hard to imprint new associations within your dogs' minds and become the alpha leaders in the home while at the same time improving your relationship with your canine! We teach gentle behavior modification techniques and you will come away with a mental "tool box" of approaches and skills that will show your dog that you are calm, assertive and in charge and to be respected. Teaching your dog to respect you means educating him. Educating him means reinforcing in his mind words and their meanings. So the education will lead to respect and the outcome will be better behavior.
Why don't we just offer correction based training you may ask ??? Have you ever noticed zoo trainers and how they train their exotic animals, such as birds? They do not train using corrections! They train thru positive reinforcement, with behavioral modifications, clicker training and desensitization techniques. Unfortunately, the world of domestic animals has been slow to follow suit. We are here to help pet owners make the change i.e. don't punish the dog. Instead , we focus on the good behavior you want repeated and follow up with reward and praise. We are here to help you! Educating our clients is of great importance to us. Yes, we will teach you that your canines are not "little people" but at the same time we will help you make your dog your "best friend", well adjusted and happy! For insight into our philosophy, please view this video link as our methods are based on these teachings: Dog friendly training philosophy, courtesy of Ian Dunbar We have new
classes starting about once a month. Please call or email
us for current start dates, an information sheet and registration form. 585-589-5499 mailto:leighthouse@rochester.rr.com CLASS INFORMATION: We train dogs through positive motivation. What is positive motivation? Anything that that will get your dog excited to take that extra step: Praise, food, toys, etc! The on-leash commands taught in Basic are: Attention(Watch Me), Sit Stay, Down Stay, Heel, Recall (Come command), & Auto Sit. Puppy Orientation is a “help, I have a new puppy what do I do?“ class!. We will get you & your puppy off to the right start! In Puppy & Basic we will review behavioral problems & try to reduce or eliminate any difficulties you are having with your dog. Classes are held in the heated red outbuilding or outdoor training yard(weather permitting). Classes are 1 hour in length. We are a family run business that cares about our local dog owning community. We live in the community that we teach in. We welcome your phone calls and care about our customers-our neighbors. We focus exclusively on dog training. If you are looking for a facility which offers more than 5 dogs in a class and where you can also pick up a bag of dog food, we are probably not the place for you. No prong collars allowed in class. The first session is a "round table" problem solving analysis. You do not bring your dog to the first night of Basic class.
We keep class sizes small so you and your dog receive personalized attention. Success will depend on you! You, the owner must make the commitment to work with your dog at least 30 minutes a day! CLASS INFO:
TESTIMONIALS: You're very good at what you do. I understand that ultimately it's my responsibility to use the tools you've equipped me with and continue the daily training with Bear which I promise I will. I wish I would have enrolled with you much earlier but better late than never as they say, right? It's truly been a pleasure learning the training techniques and getting to know you a little bit as well, you're very personable and transparent and I can see why you are as successful as you seem to be. I absolutely appreciate your obvious dedication and love as Teacher and Trainer to our canine friends and we the pet owners. My hope is that everyone in the class comes away from the training with a "nugget" of wisdom they didn't have beforehand and to that end we're so much better for it regarding our relationship with our pets! Thanks again Ron for caring so much and for your time and effort, it's very much appreciated! Honestly. Thank you Sir. P.S. |
